This publication is a complete summary of the lithic tools in prehistoric Virginia. It contains PaleoAmerican artifacts as well as Paleoindian, Archaic, and Woodland period tools and implements. It has descriptions, references, and over 2000 photographs. The basic book divisions are microtools (arrowheads, knives, drills, etc.) and macrotools (axes, celts, etc.). These artifacts are arranged in chronological order. A summary of the history of the practice of archaeology in Virginia is presented, including various well-known archaeologists and amateur archaeologists.
